Has your anxiety got to the point where you aren’t living a full life? You have to find an effective method for stress management. Many people attend therapy sessions, use breathing exercises, and take medications. Read on to find out how you can better manage your anxiety with various methods and advice.

1. Stay away from negative news

If outside events contribute to your anxiety, reduce or eliminate how often you watch the news or read the paper. Allow yourself to briefly review the news of the day, but don’t continuously check for updates about negative news that will serve to accentuate your fears.

2. Plan your day

Set goals that you can follow each day. This keeps your mind focused so you can work on these goals rather than being consumed by anxious thoughts. When you focus, you keep your mind busy as well as keep out negative thoughts from harming your brain.

3. Be grateful for what you already have

Think about the positive things that are going on in your life. Write them down each day before going to bed and when you wake up to begin the day. Positive thinking helps keep negative thoughts from consuming you, which will help reduce the anxiety that you feel.

4. Use unprocessed salt for your cooking

People who have high anxiety will often crave salt. This is because the body requires more salt during such times, and is signaling for you to boost your intake. The best kind of salt to use is the raw, unprocessed salt that is easy for your body to digest and has more of the trace minerals your body needs.

5. Practice techniques that help with deep breathing

Practice techniques that help with deep breathing. Anxiety causes some to hyperventilate and take shallow breaths. Instead of breathing this way, breathe deeply. You will find that your anxiety eases as you breathe deeply, watching your stomach rise and fall with each breath.

6. Do something positive to keep you busy

A great way to keep your anxiety under control is by staying busy. When you have no interests or work to do, your mind may wander. Find something to keep your body and mind occupied. Little things, like cleaning your house or washing the car can really help you.

7. Take on a hobby

Sitting on the sofa and mulling your anxiety issues over will do nothing to rid you of them. Try finding ways to occupy yourself instead, and give your mind something to think about other than your problems. Taking up a hobby or some other creative outlet that occupies your mind can help you feel less anxious.

8. Have enough rest

If you are trying to get rid of your anxiety, you need enough sleep. Sleep deprivation creates a wide variety of physical and mental issues that can foster anxiety disorders. The recommended sleep for adults is about 8 hours a night
