Do Not Allow People’s Opinion Define You!

Sometimes you find yourselves, saying YES when your heart is saying NO. Most times, it is the fear of guilt that makes us say YES instead of NO. You might even find yourself putting aside your priorities, just to say yes to other people. Each time you do that, you are depriving yourself of your happiness thereby leading to stress and frustrations, the responsibilities will become huge on you.

I know it can be really hard to say NO to people, especially when you are one of those that like to please people. Below l will be giving you four tips on how to say No without a regret.

1. Know Your Value

Not able to say No, is because you are waiting for people’s approval, you want people to always applaud you, and by so doing, you are letting them define your person and purpose in life. It is okay to put yourself first because your uniqueness matters to be that which God has created you to be. It is good and okay to make mistakes but value your own opinion more than the opinion of others.

2. Understand Why You Find It Hard To Say No

If you are so scared of being judged because you said NO, then you need to understand this and work on it. You may need to leave the circle of friends, congregation, job, or even a relationship, otherwise, people’s opinions will define you, and you will be in bondage to always say YES to people, even when their opinion is wrong.

3. Learn To Say No Without Apologizing

Know that you own nobody an apology or explanation for being you, of course, it must not be rude or disrespectful. This one is very scary at first, but the more you learn to do it, the more confident you become. You don’t need to apologize to anyone for saying No.

4. Know That You Cannot Do Everything

If all you do is say YES, to people’s opinion, you will end up not having quality time for yourself and your family. This type is very common among the churches, where the preacher imposes all the rules and regulations on you and leave no time for you to take care of your needs.

In Conclusion

If David had listened to Saul and his brothers, he will never have the courage to face Goliath. What about Rahab, she never allowed people’s opinion to define her. Until you learn to say No without regrets, people will take advantage of you.
