‘’And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul. And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, if ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abode there. And she constrained us’’ Acts 1111116:14-15
In the above verses, it is made clear to us that Lydia was a lover of God’s word and a worshipper and also a businesswoman, and because she was connected, God opened her eyes to see what the disciples needed.
In life or in this Christian race, all we ought to do is accept Jesus as our Lord and personal Saviour, we need to confess Him, fellowship with Him in truth and in spirit, irrespective of our status, riches or firm we need God in all will do and it must be done in honesty.
God saw Lydia commitments and decided to open her eyes to attend to the need of Apostle Paul and others. God is not a selfish God, He is looking for those to use in His kingdom, many women out there are like Lydia and sad enough many women are also out there who are not humble and because of that, God cannot use them, they think that all that matters is money, firm and all other things that will make people respect and bow down to them.
Lydia was a humble irrespective of her wealth and firm because the Bible made us know that the whole people knew her. She was a purple seller and also known to be a worshipper. What are you doing with that business God gave to you, has it become your god that nobody can come close to you? Has it becomes a stumbling block that you now get so busy to attend service or be in the congregation of God’s people?
How far are you humble? According to the Book of James 4:10, it says ‘’ Humility is a step to your elevation. Humble yourself before God and man’’
Just like Lydia, humble yourself, so that ego will not drive away your helper of destiny. Humility pays.
God Bless
