Looking at Queen Esther’s story in the Bible, it explains her strong belief and faith in God. It also reveals how and what made her take the risk to save her people by exposing Haman’s evil plan against the Jewish folks.
Some life situations require us to make hard decisions. It might be that you’re passing through an abusive marriage or relationship, having to deal with a narcissistic spouse, or even having to face a divorce.
Maybe you never saw that spouse betraying your trust. Now you have to make that decision, either to stay and endure all the lies, manipulations, and gaslighting or leave.
Queen Esther, as we read in the Bible, won the heart of King Xerxes and she was made a queen. Esther was just an orphan whom Mordecai raised. So when the news came to her about the evil plan Haman had against her people. Esther did not just rush into making a decision. She first invited God into the case by fasting and seeking the face of God in that situation. She also ordered her medians and her uncle Mordecai to do the same.
This is because Esther knew that going into her husband’s presence without being invited might cost her her life. And because she also knew that God is her ultimate security, she took the risk by going into the king’s presence uninvited.
When we face trials and tribulations, we should never be quick to make a decision. Make time to seek God’s face in that situation and invite Him into that case. Have faith and believe that when you seek him, you will definitely find him. He will be your guard and your refuge throughout those situations and forever.
Esther did another amazing thing. When she went into the king’s presence, she did not rush to tell the king why she came; she invited her husband and Haman twice to a banquet she organised.
In this process, God was working behind the scenes. He was bringing to remembrance all the good people and what they have done to help others. One night, the king was going through a historical event and remembered how Mordecai saved his life. He then asked Haman what reward is worth giving to that person who saved his life. Haman, who thought he was the person, quickly rushed into making the decision.” Haman said, such a person should be honoured in a very big way” The king told Haman to honour Mordecai. Haman was humiliated but obeyed the king.
Here comes the good news. During the second banquet, the king asked Queen Esther what was on her mind. Esther told her husband about the evil plan of Haman. He planned to eliminate all the Jewish people, and because she is also Jewish. The case also affects her. The king was furious and immediately ordered Haman to be hanged on the very gallows he had prepared for Mordecai.
In those trying times in our lives, we all should remember that God is with us. He will never leave nor forsake us. These are his promises to us. As in the case of Queen Esther, this might have involved her taking a risk, but she deeply believed that God was her ultimate security.
Are you willing to let God be your ultimate security?
Remain blessed.
