5 Ways To Deal With Jealous Co-workers!

Yes! we all are professionals and adults you might say. Adults with high decrees, titles that will make some people jealous of each other. This is what is called envy, and this can be found among co-workers and sometimes among bosses. Jealousy is a common thing found among people because it’s a natural thing that has existed from the very beginning of the world and this can be found in the story of Cain and Abel and even the serpent and mankind in Genesis.

We all have it, but we must control our thoughts to avoid jealousy to take an evil shape in our lives. We must not give it a chance, because if we do, we are waking up the ugly monster and when it finds its way into our thoughts and take over, it can become disastrous to us and others around us.

Know that jealousy is a negative emotion that wastes your time and energy. You must have experienced jealousy in high schools, and this has also found its way into the career world. It’s like cancer that eats up the bone marrow if not quickly attended to.

Psalm 37:1-3; “Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.”

These are some of the things that can arouse jealousy!

  • Your ideas used over others
  • You are more appreciated than others
  • Getting more compliment than others
  • You are promoted quickly than others
  • Your boss shows favoritism to you more than others

Ways To Deal With Jealous co-workers

  • Ignore Them

It’s okay for co-workers to be jealous of you because you are more qualified than them and get to be praised by your boss. But you must ignore their thoughts over you and be very watchful of them. You will perceive a jealous co-worker by the way they react to you maybe after a pay raise or promotion.

  • Pay Back In Kindness

It’s hard to be happy when you are been set on a chair of a resentment. You might be tempted to overreact and say something harsh. Instead, offer to help and return good cheers for their evil deed. Teach them how to become the best in what you do, and maybe tell them to stay in their uniqueness. Rather than being envious of you, teach them how they can start to develop themselves more effectively. When you do this you will be fulfilling the Bible verse that says in Proverbs 25:22 In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you.

  • Surround Yourself With Positive People

Learn to build strong allies in your workplace. Not everyone will be jealous of you. So recognized those that love and support you honestly. They can support you and assist you when the heat of jealousy comes knocking at your door.

  • Stay Focused

Sure! Not everyone will celebrate your prominence, but learn to stay focused. Since you are recognized for your good work, worry less about jealous people and show appreciation to those that appreciate you, but keep your focus straight on your decisions.

  • Turn It Around

There is every possibility that when you are always appreciated for doing a great job, that others might feel left behind. Reach out to them if you get the chance to do so, and also acknowledge them. Compliment them on your own. This way they might feel the honesty and love in you and may want to hang around you with a clean heart.

We all need each other to grow, sometimes jealous people don’t know what they are until it becomes really bad. Talk to them about the love of Christ and teach them to wait patiently for their reward. Teach them to do the things they love and in due season, God will visit them with good news.
