In the book of Romans 5:3 ” Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance”
It is not all affliction that is set to harm you or to weigh you down. There is also another benefit of afflictions, sometimes, it is to help you develop the grace of God in your life especially the fruit of the Spirit. Sometimes we need to undergo situations like hatred, to be able to cultivate the fruit of love and you cannot develop the fruit of peace until you find yourselves in a crisis.
In the midst of unanswered or delayed prayers, it is when you learn to be patient and enduring long-sufferings, it may even be continuous suffering and denials. This is why, most believers when hit with the above reasons, should rejoice in tribulations, persecution and hard times. Such situations have a way of increasing your love for God and faith in Him.
In Hosea 5:15 says ”Then I will return to my lair until they have borne their guilt and seek my face in their misery they will earnestly seek me.”
In the above verse, affliction can also be used to restore the backslider. Affliction contrary to what many think could be an avenue to demonstrate God’s love.
God will discipline you when you err because He truly loves you. In the process of chastisement, God may touch something very precious to you or withdraw a particular grace or even permit some injury. Don’t be angry when you are been chastised, it is only for your good and upliftment.
